GRANNY’S PIE FACTORY

We updated the original design of this “Berlin Turnpike-Hey Day” stylized sign that was up on the building for decades. The process included recreating the decorative border and hand made font, building a 2 tiered “Seymour Frame”, reversing the colorway, and adding an enamel hammered background finish. The materiality and inclusion of the original sign style was important in that we wanted to preserve the history of the factory’s different signs over the years while advertising a very clear message to it’s community. We also implemented the new graphic onto merchandise to be sold at their fresh market booths and on-line.

In addition to the framed work, we painted another sign directly onto the building facing the other direction. We used a variation of vintage fonts from our “Senior Art Director’s” design library. The 2 fonts selcted are from 1967 and match the era of the architecture and age of the business.
